Central Region of the Missionary Church logo

The Central Region utilizes a variety of methods and models for church planting. We are not locked into any single plan, so we are able to evaluate the merit of each opportunity and act accordingly.

Currently, we are involved in the following church planting activities...

Pioneer Church Planting

God has called a select group of Church Planters to step out into uncharted territories. These pioneers go out on the strength of vision to areas where no Missionary Church currently exists, root themselves in the community, sow the message of Christ and build a church on the harvest.

Pioneering Church Planters need to be entrepreneurial, relational, and focused on their goal. If you have a vision for reaching an area where the Missionary Church does not yet exist let us know. We are interested in discussing it with you and assessing your call. If this would be to a Hispanic community, contact Jimmy Santiago. For all others, contact Tom Blaylock.

Birthing New Congregations

Most Central Region Missionary Churches can trace their origin back to a pre-existent congregation. A new church is birthed when a group of believers is nurtured, supported and sent out from their local church. When they have established themselves in the community and are self-led and supported they may then become an independent Missionary Church.

Pathway Community (Fort Wayne, IN) and The Rock (Portland, IN) are recent examples of new congregations that were birthed from established congregations.

Adoption of Established Independent Congregations

Increasingly, independent churches are coming forward seeking to join the Missionary Church for purposes of accountability and a role in something larger than themselves. We welcome all who share our statement of faith and mission to reach the lost, raise up disciples of Jesus Christ, and extend the Kingdom of God.

While not specifically a means of creating a new congregation, adoptions provide greater momentum and effectiveness in reaching the lost of Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin. If you are leading an independent church and would like to investigate the possibilities of joining the Missionary Church please contact us.

L.E.A.D. Teams

A L.E.A.D. team is a gathering of approximately four to seven pastors, or other key leaders, meeting together on a routine basis to build meaningful relationships, focus on spiritual growth, and work together to plant new churches.

The teams meet about five times each year, becoming, in the words of historian Stephen Ambrose, “a band of brothers.” They are led by a “Head Coach” (one of the L.E.A.D. team pastors) and Tom Blaylock who serves as the team facilitator. In addition, L.E.A.D. team churches find a church planter, financially support the plant, and provide families to serve in the core group.

Peoria, Illinois is the home of the Central Region's first L.E.A.D. team. Rev. Joe Weyer (Bethany Missionary Church) is the Head Coach. For more information please contact Tom Blaylock.

Discipleship Movements that Develop a Core of Believers as a New Congregation

The goal of our discipleship training is to mobilize believers who will make disciples, who will also make disciples, who will also make disciples - to the fourth "generation." Should this take place, the Central Region believes, a discipleship movement will take place from which groups of new believers will form new congregations. These groups will be marked by their zeal for preaching the gospel, incarnational lifestyle, and organic structures.
